This was an emulated dome: like the one in the film Truman Show, except its viewers were 1/5 of world population inside. And the inner walls were painted with no blue sky but tempest.
The surrounding world wrapped the central nation within the dome, showcasing on its inner walls was dystopia of Western civilization. These looking-bad images and visual effects were selected and interpreted to inspire, confuse or convince the people inside, with supposedly needed formula and references for the central nation to survive and build out their home into, into the base of the world’s manufacturing super power, into the deepest world market of consumer and industrial products, into a fortress with the largest military power to defend, may be also into an “everybody-is-modestly-wealthy” dreamland. The outsiders irresponsibly, selfishly and even conspired to play their mischief, as long as the dome made insiders felt visually comfortable to stay in. The purpose is to keep the central nation isolated while exhausting its resource to supply the outside world. Through recent years, we read some advocates crying out it was the West’s conspiracies to block the central nation from becoming a real world superpower (which supposed to reach out the world). Finger has been pointed: should anything went wrong on this path, it were the world’s imperialists to blame, just like they have unforgivably done to the center through the last century.
This was a dome that very physically exists: Some say through next 30-50 years, the central nation, along with its 1/5 of world population, would have totally exhausted its natural resources, and convert all into mountains of steel and concrete pile-ups along with a huge cluster of polluted environment, and then people inside will realize that its population will reduce from 1/5 down to 1/7 of the worlds, and with significant lesser percentage of young labor and fresh minds remain. Then seal the dome or by whatever means to quarantine, the world shall survive from this piece of waste land.
Idealistic isolation: The central nation government had a present fear, a concern, thus the guidance for their people’s access Western’s values and acceptance their views. Google left, YouTube left, Netflix blocked, and FaceBook was band, inside the dome. The outside world always made controlled export into the dome about advanced technologies. While central nation would always made controlled import from outside the information. The common effects: to let insiders see few outside but outsiders see a lot inside.
What outsiders reacted: first, they tolerated and agreed for limited information to go in; then they encouraged more and more information to come out. The whole outside world would be facilitated to see the inside most naked, most thorough, most in-detail and not censored. To whose advantage wouldn’t be very clear?
