Daily Circadian Timer?
Thanks FTC’s project scientist Dr. Mika Nystrom, who uninstalled his 50+ year antique devices from the historical apartment building property of his family’s, and brought it to US as a gift to me. This is a latitude-base programmed year-round sunlight circadian timer, used in the lighting circuit outside of the elevator door. It is a Swish product, Swish Accuracy, mechanic-firmware program based on year-round big-data. A classical Western industrial craftsmen-ship, a piece of instant heritage of modern industry.
Man evolved and reproduced based on the given natural Circadian Rhythm for some 200,000 years till now. This is modulated by Sunlight, the domination of the earth’s nature. This traditional and unsophisticated device is a “timer”. Its purpose is to control an electric lighting which is recent-150-year appliances invention. It, with great deal of craftsmen-ship, specifically refected: modern industrial civilization used to stand on awe of, with-effort to maintain this great natural coincidence (natural circadian rhythm) which our lives have depended on. If every piece of modern merchandise designs has such sensitivity and consciousness… perhaps human can survive in the grant nature.
In contrast, a replacement of this piece, a microprocessor controlled timer, did not have the year-round circadian cycle function, broke after 3 years.
A friend said I could start a collector’s business. I say, this is just a very commonly everywhere item. The mainstream of society often omits their daily existing. And media is unable to tell a difference from a good and bad, regarding old and new. While in this today’s greatest industrial empire of China, I am trying to contribute some sensitivities that have already invented and respected in in the world. Through 600 years of this apartment building about 200 meters from the Palace in Stockholm, how many appliances have changed by generations. I wonder what if a piece we install there, does it matches the ever prestige of given history at all.
