Orthogonal Thoughts

Orthogonal Thoughts were instances when people created variates that statistically independent from the main subjects under an ongoing conversation. While we felt amazed about how an ongoing subject could be under distraction or diversion into another. That could be an annoying thing, usual started by Norm who accidentally altered Cary’s subject.

But later we discovered that it could add an amusing flavor as we often wanted to be randomly miss led into other things, especially when wine and beer drinking involved an intellectual conversation at a Sunday brunch table. These were usually taking place in on a Sunday in Park Plaza with Cary and Norm:

Here we were sitting outdoor tables of the Western Restaurant of Park Plaza Hotel which was built dedicated to the former World College Games Village, in Knowing Spring Road (知春路) right below the “4th Ring North” of Beijing. It was summer 2008, 2 years since Cary Ussery and I had stationed in Beijing from where we together were operating Vivace Semiconductor (Boston, Rochester and Beijing), who got expanded into China after the founder Cary’s acquisition upon my XH Micron (a Silicon Intellectual Property star-tup).

We later identified that, orthogonal thoughts, if was brought up artfully, could become inspirational, an escape to our daily over-and-over subjects of lives. So let is be orthogonal, because we kind of like it to, and it could accidentally inspire a migh-be-greater-than-life topic of ours.

Later I started to post a dedicated category of orthogonal thoughts…
